A major arrest has just put an end to the activities of a dangerous individual who was terrorizing residents and users of the Bou Bess market. During the night of October 17-18, 2026, officers from the Wakhinane Nimzatt police station's investigation unit apprehended Mr. Diouf, alias "Gana Guèye," a repeat offender well known to the security services.
A complaint was filed after a knife attack
The case dates back to October 13, 2026. On that day, Mr. D. THIANDOUM, a motorcycle driver residing in Diass, went to the Wakhinane Nimzatt police station to file a complaint against Mr. DIOUF.
According to the victim's statement, the accused attacked him with extreme violence, stealing his mobile phone. Described as a particularly dangerous individual aggressively armed with a knife, the suspect had already been the subject of numerous complaints from merchants and residents of the Bou Bess market, which he frequented regularly.
Following this complaint and repeated reports, law enforcement intensified surveillance in the area. It was finally during the night of October 17-18, 2026, during a routine patrol conducted by the investigation unit of the Wakhinane Nimzatt police station within their jurisdiction, that officers encountered the suspect.
The individual was immediately identified: Mr. DIOUF, known as "Gana Guèye", (aged 37), of Senegalese nationality and declaring himself a painter, residing in Yeumbeul.
A long criminal record and a recent presidential pardon
The police investigation revealed the particularly repeat offender profile of the man in his thirties. Mr. Diouf is not a first-time offender: he has already been brought before the Wakhinane police station on numerous occasions for similar robbery with violence, serving prison sentences each time.
Even more striking, the investigations established that the suspect had just benefited from the latest presidential pardon.
Although he was supposed to serve a one-year prison sentence, this release measure allowed him to regain his freedom prematurely, before he quickly reoffended.
Following his arrest, Mr. Diouf was immediately taken into custody at the Wakhinane Nimzatt police station. He is being prosecuted for multiple robberies committed with violence. Prosecutor Saliou Dicko has been informed of the facts.
