Guédiawaye : Il se faisait passer pour le fils de l’architecte Atépa et promettait des visas pour le Canada et le Danemark
A false name, a false parentage, and promises of visas worth millions of CFA francs. O. Diédhiou was impersonating K. Goudiaby, son of the architect Pierre Goudiaby Atépa. He was arrested by officers from the Guédiawaye central police station for identity theft, breach of trust, forgery and use of forged documents, and visa fraud. Brought before the Pikine-Guédiawaye prosecutor's office on October 26, 2026, he was remanded in custody. His case was heard on October 30 before the court of summary jurisdiction, before being adjourned.
According to the investigation, the case came to light following a complaint filed on October 23rd by AR Mbow, alias "Malal," and AK Gningue at the central police station in Guédiawaye. The two men accuse their interlocutor of having defrauded them with promises of obtaining visas for Canada and Denmark.
The accused led them to believe he was K. Goudiaby, son of the architect Pierre Goudiaby Atépa. It was under this identity that he allegedly established relationships with several people, after being introduced by a certain Mr. Ndour.
He allegedly offered them visas for Canada and Denmark at a price of 3.5 million CFA francs each. But the promises never materialized. The victims also claim to have been subjected to threats of witchcraft when the accused mentioned a possible trip to Guinea-Bissau.
Exasperated, the complainants created a WhatsApp group with others who claimed to have been victims of the same actions. They then devised a strategy to find and apprehend him. The meeting was finally arranged in Guédiawaye, near the Jaal-Mbaye bus stop, where O. Diédhiou was arrested and taken to the police station.
When questioned by investigators, he admitted to the acts. He gave his true identity: O. Diédhiou, 35 years old, presenting himself as a security guard and residing in Guédiawaye.
So far, four victims have come forward. They are AR Mbow, AK Gningue, A. Sow and M. Ndour. They stated that they paid the sums of 180,000, 160,000, 45,000 and 15,000 FCFA respectively, for a total of 400,000 FCFA.
