Hashish: A woman arrested with over 10 kg imported from the United States

On September 1, 2026, the Dakar regional narcotics brigade arrested a woman presented as the intermediary recipient of a package from the United States containing several products suspected of being narcotics. The operation resulted in the seizure of more than 10 kg of hashish, as well as other substances suspected of containing cocaine and MDMA.

The case began around 5 p.m., following a report concerning a New York-Dakar Grand Prix. Alerted, officers from the regional narcotics squad went to the transporter's premises to conduct an investigation. Examination of the package confirmed the presence of 10.60 kg of hashish, a box containing 193 g of white powder suspected of being cocaine, and another box containing 170 g of beige candies suspected of containing MDMA.

A controlled delivery operation was then set up with the assistance of the usual delivery driver. The police operation allowed them to track the package to the home of its recipient, identified as the wife of the sender, who is based in the United States.

The woman was arrested as she received the package at her apartment. A search of the premises uncovered several items, including underwear and products similar to those found in the package.

When questioned by investigators, the woman reportedly admitted to being the intermediary recipient of packages her husband sent her from the United States. According to her statements, another individual would then collect some of the packages, while she kept the rest of the contents.

Following her arrest, the suspect was taken into custody for alleged offenses of criminal association, possession and international trafficking of drugs and money laundering.
