Horreur à Linguère : un voleur de bétail s’acharne à la machette sur un éleveur et ses deux épouses, dont une enceinte à terme
An attack of unprecedented cruelty has plunged the village of Gassane, in the Linguère department, into shock. In the night between Thursday and Friday, around midnight, an individual suspected of cattle theft attacked a herder and his two wives with a machete, one of whom is nine months pregnant, reports L'Observateur.
The same source explains that Ousmane K. got up to inspect his enclosure after hearing unusual commotion among his animals. Surprised by the intruder, he was allegedly attacked with a machete, inflicting serious injuries to both arms. Alerted by the screams, his two wives intervened. Coumba D., who was heavily pregnant, reportedly received a violent machete blow to the back of the neck while trying to protect her husband. His other wife, Ada D., was also injured while attempting to fend off the attacker.
In the absence of suitable emergency transport in this agro-pastoral area, the three victims were evacuated by motorcycle to the Gassane health post. Given the severity of their injuries, they were then urgently transferred to the Matlaboul Fawzayni Hospital in Touba, according to the newspaper of the Future Media Group. A manhunt has been launched throughout the Linguère department to find the suspect, who is still at large.
