A fire that broke out Friday morning in a room in the Medina district nearly turned into a tragedy when a firefighter responding to the scene was electrocuted. Investigators are favoring the theory of an illegal electrical connection, according to Seneweb sources.
On Friday, September 11, 2026, at approximately 8:45 a.m., the Medina district police station received a report from a Chief Warrant Officer of the 11th Fire Brigade Company of Malick Sy. He reported a fire in a bedroom of a house located at the corner of 25th Street, 18th Street, and 20th Street.
A transport was immediately carried out on site by officers from the police station. It was as he was leaving the damaged room that Corporal C. SÈNE was electrocuted.
A notable fact noted by investigators was that the building's power supply had been cut off prior to the intervention. This circumstance led them to hypothesize the existence of an illegal electrical connection, which could have been the cause of the accident.
Having been struck by an electric shock, Corporal C. SÈNE was urgently evacuated to the Main Hospital of Dakar to receive medical treatment.
When questioned by firefighters about the origin and nature of the suspected electrical connection, the occupants of the house were reluctant to answer their questions.
In light of this situation, further investigations will be required to determine the exact origin of the suspected electrical connection and to establish the precise circumstances that led to the electrocution of Corporal C. SÈNE.

Electrisation=victime en vie
