Italie : armé d’un couteau, un Sénégalais sème la terreur dans un bus
A Senegalese man in his thirties, whose identity has not been revealed, was arrested Saturday in Calcinelli, Italy, for resisting arrest. "Other charges could also be brought, particularly in connection with the disruption of public services and damage to a car," predicts Les Échos, which relayed this story reported by the Italian daily Il Resto Del Carlino.
According to the newspaper's account, the accused, while traveling on a bus, suddenly pulled a knife and a file from his bag. While sharpening his weapon, the Senegalese man began moving down the aisle of the vehicle.
"The man reportedly went to the front of the bus, towards the driver. She then stopped the vehicle and opened the doors, allowing the passengers to get off quickly," the same source recounts.
Although no serious injuries were reported, the incident caused fear among other travelers, one of whom suffered from fainting.
The individual was apprehended in a cafe by law enforcement, who intervened quickly after being alerted by witnesses to the scene.
“According to the establishment’s manager, the Senegalese man resisted arrest before being subdued by officers. A file was found in his bag, while the knife was reportedly discovered in a trash can,” Les Échos reports. The newspaper notes that the suspect, “known to police,” will be “brought before a judge as part of the procedure to validate his arrest.”
