Ivre au volant d’un véhicule de la primature : Un chauffeur arrêté par la police après avoir provoqué deux accidents
The Road Safety and Accidents Section of the Dakar Central Police Station noted, on October 17, 2026 at 4:50 p.m., two traffic accidents with material damage, at the intersection of Biscuiterie Street 53 and Biscuiterie Street 70. Three vehicles were involved.
The first is a Toyota driven by O. Diouf, who holds a Senegalese driver's license. The vehicle belongs to the Prime Minister's office and is covered by the State's legal representative. It has a detached front right bumper and a scratched front right fender.
The second vehicle is a Citroën passenger car driven by SY Ba, who also holds a Senegalese driver's license. It belongs to Ms. FG. The damage noted includes a detached left rear bumper and a scratched left rear fender.
The third is a Toyota city taxi driven by Mr. Guèye, holder of a Senegalese driver's license. Its right rear fender is dented and scratched, its left doors are dented and scratched, and its front left indicator light is broken.
The sequence of events
According to information provided by the drivers of the first two vehicles, the government employee's driver, who was intoxicated, was driving on Biscuiterie Street 53, from the Jet d'Eau towards the EDK station. Upon reaching the intersection with Biscuiterie Street 70, he lost control of his vehicle and collided with a vehicle registered DK-5, which was traveling in the opposite direction, causing the material damage described above, according to the police investigation.
Without stopping, he continued his run to Biscuiterie Street 70. There he hit another vehicle a second time, which was stopped on the right side of that street.
Police officers from the Grand Dakar police station, who arrived first on the scene, noted that the driver of the Prime Minister's vehicle emitted a strong smell of alcohol and was having difficulty standing on his legs.
Alerted, officers from the Accident Investigation Unit at the Dakar Central Police Station conducted an investigation before taking the suspect to headquarters. A breathalyzer test confirmed alcohol consumption, according to Seneweb sources.
While awaiting sobering up, O. Diouf was taken back to the police station where he was placed in custody. The charge against him is "driving under the influence of alcohol resulting in an accident with significant property damage." The investigation is ongoing.
