“J’ai perdu espoir” : La confession d’un migrant conduit à l'interpellation de 27 candidats à l'émigration à Karang par la SR de Kaolack
The fight against irregular migration continues along the West African coast. On August 18, 2026, the Kaolack research unit was informed of the presence of a group of would-be migrants, gathered in a concession in Karang, with a view to embarking for Spain.
The investigators first contacted one of the candidates, who confided that he had lost hope of traveling, as the organizers had been postponing the departure date for a month.
On the orders of the SR commander, a surveillance operation was deployed. The operation, which took place around 6 p.m., led to the arrest of 27 candidates: 16 Senegalese, seven Malians, two Gambians, one Guinean, and one Ivorian, according to Seneweb sources close to the court.
The investigations also revealed that the organizers had relocated the gathering point to Karang, with the initial departure planned from the village of Bankanding, in Gambia, on the night of August 18-19, as Mawlid approached.
Two organizers were identified, according to a well-established modus operandi: EOS collected a payment of 300,000 CFA francs from each candidate, before transferring the funds to TN, which was responsible for compiling the passenger lists and managing the transport logistics via WhatsApp.
At the conclusion of the investigation, EOS was brought before the public prosecutor at the Financial Judicial Pool in Dakar last Thursday for organizing illegal immigration. His accomplice, TN, who is actively being sought, is believed to be located in Spain .
