«Je ne suis pas en phase avec vous »: Les vérités de Cheikh Oumar Anne aux syndicats d’enseignants
While the G7 inter-union group plans to observe a 72-hour strike from October 21 to 23, 2026, the mayor of Ndioum, Dr. Cheikh Oumar Anne, former Minister of National Education, is showing his disagreement with this movement.

Speaking at a meeting with the Fouta Debout movement, organized in the context of discussions about the development of the region, the mayor warned against the consequences of school disruptions on the future of students.
"I am certainly an opponent, but I am not in agreement with you," he said, thus expressing his position regarding the teachers' demands and their decision to resort to strike action.
According to the former Minister of National Education, the difficulties encountered in negotiations with the State should not jeopardize the continuity of education. He believes that teachers, who play a crucial role in shaping future generations, have a particular responsibility in preserving the education system.
The mayor particularly emphasized the issues related to the future of children and the country, noting that the consequences of school strikes are not the same for all families.
According to him, students from modest backgrounds are the most exposed to the repercussions of these disruptions, unlike children from wealthy families, whose parents can mobilize additional resources to ensure the continuity of their learning.
"Every time there is a strike, it is the poor who pay the price," he lamented, highlighting the inequalities that repeated interruptions of classes can exacerbate between students.
Through this statement, the mayor of Ndioum highlights the need to preserve the school and protect the interests of the learners, while expressing his disagreement with the use of strikes in the current context.

As a reminder, the G7 inter-union group announced a total strike of 72 hours, from October 21 to 23, 2026. The unions are demanding, in particular, respect for the commitments made by the government within the framework of the agreement of April 16, 2026, the settlement of sums owed to teachers, progress on the issue of remuneration as well as the regularization of certain administrative and training situations.
They also denounce delays in the payment of salaries to some contract teachers.
