Kaolack : Le colonel Abdoulaye Mbengue prend les commandes de la Zone militaire n° 3
On Tuesday in Kaolack, Colonel Abdoulaye Mbengue was officially installed as commander of Military Zone No. 3—encompassing the regions of Kaolack, Fatick, and Kaffrine—replacing Colonel Ma Samba Thiam. The ceremony was presided over by the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces (Cemga), Vice Admiral Oumar Wade, in the presence of the Governor of the Kaolack region, Guédj Diouf, and the Mayor of Kaolack, Serigne Mboup, among other dignitaries.
In his address, the new commander expressed his commitment to continuing the mission begun by his predecessors. “Our mission is to defend the integrity of the national territory and guarantee the safety of people and their property against all forms of threat. Our directives stem from those of the Head of State, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, but at the level of military zones, there are specific considerations. For us, in the context of territorial defense, it is about continuing along the path already established, focused on prevention, improving personnel discipline, anticipating the threats we face, analyzing the security situation in the Sahel and at the borders, and above all, gathering information to react before a threat reaches the population. We urge the public to remain vigilant by reporting any suspicious activity,” he stated.
Speaking about collaboration with the authorities, the new commander explained that it is essential given the missions, which converge on the protection of the population and the defense of the territory and property. "We can only work together to achieve overall success. By collaborating closely with the administrative authorities, we will be more effective and better prepared to intervene when needed. Because Military Zone No. 3, by virtue of its central geographic location covering the regions of Kaffrine, Kaolack, and Fatick, must be able to intervene in support of other zones. This synergy is therefore indispensable," he emphasized.
