Khar Yalla : un fuyard, une évasion ratée et 6 kg de drogue saisis
As part of the fight against drug trafficking, the Grand-Yoff police station's research brigade arrested a repeat offender in the Khar Yalla district, more precisely at the market commonly known as "Gang", following a turbulent intervention, reports L'Observateur.
According to the newspaper of the Groupe Futurs Médias (GFM), police officers were conducting a surveillance operation when they gave chase to an individual whose behavior was deemed suspicious. He managed to escape in the confusion and remains at large.
It was then, the same source indicates, that a second individual, I. Baldé, rushed out of a room and attempted to scale the compound wall barefoot, hoping to evade the checkpoint. According to the newspaper, the suspect tried to justify his escape by claiming he believed a thief was being chased in the area.
A security search revealed 40,000 FCFA on him. A subsequent search of the room he had just left led to the seizure of six kilograms of Indian hemp, L'Observateur adds.
Thirty-two-year-old I. Baldé, a painter, is already known to police for similar offenses. Taken into custody for domestic drug trafficking, he denied owning the contraband but was unable to provide a convincing explanation for his presence in the room where it was hidden. The investigation continues to locate the first individual who fled, according to Gfm.
