On Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at the House of Urban Cultures in Dakar, the "Gënji Hip Hop" association reached a decisive milestone. Gathered under the chairmanship of Maguette Diop, eleven members met to review the team's progress and officially launch the 2026-2030 Strategic Plan. This all-female association brings together artists, activists, and feminists from Senegal's cultural and creative industries. Its objective is to empower the women who drive hip-hop and urban culture with the tools to thrive, organize themselves, and have a greater impact. The meeting allowed for an evaluation of the Communication, Finance & Mediation, and Organization departments, and for the adoption of several key decisions to professionalize the association.

To achieve its ambitions, Gënji has chosen a rigorous approach. The assembly adopted strong decisions such as integrating new members, creating membership cards for 2,000 FCFA, and setting annual dues at 12,000 FCFA. Only members with up-to-date dues will benefit from the opportunities. A social fund will also be established to support women in need. The focus is also on concrete action with the announcement of the first official event: a swap meet, scheduled for September 5, 2026, a flagship activity for the association that combines culture, sharing, and economic empowerment.

Beyond organization, Gënji is looking to the future. The new strategic plan outlines the collective's identity and vision for 2030, built around four key areas, with performance indicators to measure impact. To solidify this momentum, bi-monthly meetings will be held every Sunday at 8:00 PM. A clear message emerges: women in the cultural and creative industries no longer want to be marginalized. With Gënji Hip Hop, they are organizing, raising funds, training, and taking their rightful place in Senegalese cultural creation.
