Le PUMA accompagne le développement territorial de Médina Yoro Foulah
PUMA and its partners are considering the future of Medina Yoro Foulah
The National Coordinator of PUMA, Dr. Ndeye Marième Samb, participated in the launch of the Communal Scheme for Planning and Territorial Development (SCADT) of Medina Yoro Foulah, this Wednesday, October 7, 2026.
This meeting marks an important step in building a new development trajectory for this border territory, rich in agricultural, pastoral, hydraulic and human potential, but still facing significant constraints in access to infrastructure and essential services.
In Medina Yoro Foulah, the challenge is clear: to transform the potential of the territory into real development opportunities.
Through the SCADT, local stakeholders now have a framework to better plan, coordinate interventions and direct investments according to the realities, needs and aspirations of the population.
PUMA intends to fully support this dynamic. With nearly 500 million FCFA of projects already underway in the department, in the areas of education, health, water, electrification, physical and digital connectivity, economic promotion and border security, the Program confirms its commitment to territorial equity.
This intervention will continue in particular through the study undertaken for the formulation of the Special Project for the Modernization of the Department of Medina Yoro Foulah, in conjunction with the SCADT, in order to better target investments and strengthen their coherence.
The creation of the 30-hectare Development Zone, the foundation stone of which was laid on April 24, 2026 by His Excellency Mr. Bassirou Diomaye Faye, President of the Republic, also constitutes a strong signal for the economic future of the territory.
Through this dynamic, Medina Yoro Foulah is projecting itself towards a better-planned, better-connected, more resilient territory and one that is more open to investment and opportunities.
PUMA thus reaffirms its mission: to make territorial equity a concrete reality and to make border territories spaces of development, prosperity and sovereignty.
