Lutte contre la criminalité : Les armées détruisent sept champs de chanvre indien et démantèlent un site d’orpaillage clandestin
The Senegalese armed forces are continuing their operations to combat criminal activities in border areas. On Saturday, October 17, 2026, two operations were carried out in the south and east of the country, resulting in the destruction of cannabis fields and the dismantling of an illegal gold mining site.
In North Sindian, southeast of the town of Tandine, elements of the commando battalion discovered and destroyed seven fields of Indian hemp. This operation is part of the armed forces' actions against illicit activities in this border area with The Gambia.
In eastern Senegal, troops from Military Zone No. 4 dismantled an illegal gold mining site in Troukhoto, in the Saraya department of the Kédougou region. During the operation, the soldiers seized seven motorcycles, seven water pumps, and various other equipment used at the site.
Through these operations, the Senegalese armed forces reaffirm their commitment to securing border areas and fighting against criminal networks operating on national territory.
