"High school, health post, sanitary block": The grievances of the people of Kossi Baye

Located in the commune of Ndiaffate, Kaolack department, the village of Kossi Baye faces significant infrastructure challenges. Its inhabitants took advantage of the visit of the president of the Kaolack departmental council, Ahmed Youssouf Bengelloun, to express their grievances regarding the urgent construction of an administrative and health block at their middle school (CEM).

In the same vein, the local population requested the construction of a high school in Kossi Baye. This request stemmed from the hardship faced by students who passed the BFEM (Brevet de Fin d'Études Moyennes), forced to travel several kilometers daily to continue their secondary education. The creation of a local secondary school would thus ensure better support for students and effectively combat school dropout rates.

Upgrade the health post to a full-fledged health center with a maternity ward

The health sector was not left out. Residents also advocated for the improvement of local medical facilities, through the transformation of the current health post into a fully operational health center, as well as the construction of a suitable maternity ward to provide quality, local care to women in the area.

These requests were made on the sidelines of the official inauguration ceremony for two classrooms built by the Kaolack Departmental Council. These new facilities, which come at just the right time, put an end to the ordeal of students who had to travel long distances and attend classes in very precarious conditions.

An investment of over 12 million CFA francs

Speaking to the community, President Ahmed Youssouf Bengelloun emphasized that these improvements now allow the children of Kossi Baye to study in much better conditions on site. As a reminder, the funds allocated for the construction of these two classrooms amount to more than 12 million CFA francs.

The head of the Departmental Council took the opportunity to appeal to the teaching staff, encouraging them to maintain the school's position among the best in the department in terms of academic results. He also urged the students to redouble their efforts in order to become the leaders of tomorrow.
