Mbour : Un charretier armé d'une machette défie la gendarmerie, 427 kg de chanvre indien interceptés
A large quantity of Indian hemp was intercepted on the night of August 29, 2026 on the coasts of Mbodiène, following a joint operation carried out by several units of the Mbour gendarmerie company.
It all started with intelligence indicating an expected shipment of cannabis on the Mbodiène coastline. Based on this information, a joint operation was launched, bringing together the Joal Territorial Brigade, the Nianing Local Brigade, and the Saly Research Brigade, all attached to the Mbour Gendarmerie Company. The objective was clear: to intercept the shipment before it could be transported.
The sequence of events
Around 10 p.m., a pirogue loaded with the contraband landed on Mbodiène beach. Shortly after, a cart arrived to transport the drugs.
It was approximately 500 meters from the intersection between Mbodiène and Ndianda that the gendarmes spotted the horse-drawn vehicle. Inside were fifteen (15) bags of Indian hemp and two individuals armed with machetes, according to information gathered by Seneweb from Colonel Ibrahima Ndiaye.
When confronted by the police, one of the two men fled after being ordered to stop. The second, who was driving the cart, initially resisted before being subdued and arrested by the police.
At the end of this operation, the gendarmes seized four hundred and twenty-seven (427) kilograms of Indian hemp.
The investigation continues, particularly to find the individual on the run and trace the network behind this trafficking.
