Méouane : Deux coépouses devant le tribunal après une bagarre sanglante
N. Fall and F. Diop, two co-wives, appeared before the Thiès court for flagrant offenses on charges of mutual assault and battery. The events took place in Méouane, in the Tivaouane department.
According to the case file, N. Fall caused injuries to F. Diop resulting in a five-day period of temporary incapacity for work (ITT). In retaliation, F. Diop inflicted more serious injuries on his co-wife, resulting in a 21-day period of ITT.
In court, the two defendants admitted to the facts. They explained that the altercation stemmed from an incident involving the child of F. Diop, namesake of the first wife. The little girl had entered N. Fall's room to get a drink. When her mother tried to get her to leave the room, an argument broke out between the two co-wives before escalating into a violent fight.
The two women acknowledged that this was not their first physical altercation.
During the altercation, F. Diop, the second wife, bit N. Fall's chin, tearing a piece of skin. She also inflicted an injury on his right arm. For her part, F. Diop claimed that her co-wife had bitten her on the cheek, arm, and breast.
At the conclusion of the proceedings, the public prosecutor requested the application of the law. The court adjourned the case for deliberation until July 10, 2026.
