Orpaillage clandestin : 40 personnes interpellées et un important matériel saisi à Missira Sirimana
On August 22, 2026, the Rapid Action Surveillance and Intervention Group (GARSI 2) conducted an operation against illegal mining in the Mouran area of the Missira Sirimana commune. The operation, led by the GARSI 2 support point based in Saeinsoutou, resulted in the dismantling of several clandestine gold mining sites and the arrest of 40 individuals. Among those arrested were 16 Malians, 11 Burkinabe, nine Guineans, and four Senegalese.
The police also seized a large quantity of equipment used in gold mining activities, including 20 motorcycles, 14 motor pumps, eight solar panels, seven generators and five jackhammers.
This operation is part of the actions carried out by the defense and security forces to combat the illegal exploitation of mineral resources and strengthen the security of gold mining areas.
