Pain hors de prix à Tivaouane : 2 251 baguettes saisies, 6 opérateurs sanctionnés
On the eve of the 2026 Gamou of Tivaouane, the Thiès Regional Trade Brigade intensified its control operations in the holy city. During one operation, officers seized 2,251 baguettes of bread that were being sold at prices exceeding the regulated rate.
The baguettes were offered to consumers between 175 and 200 CFA francs, while the normal price is set at 150 CFA francs.
Given the significant needs related to supplying the population and the many faithful expected for the Gamou, the products concerned were nevertheless sold directly to consumers at the regulated price of 150 CFA francs, in order to avoid any disruption in supply.
In total, six economic operators were identified and sanctioned in accordance with the applicable legal provisions.
This operation is part of the control system put in place by the trade services to ensure compliance with prices and protect consumers during the Gamou period.
