« Passou Magal » refusé : le prévenu publie neuf vidéos TikTok pour...
FD, a 22-year-old apprentice tailor, was sentenced by the Diourbel court to six months in prison, three of which are to be served, for public insults and assault. The dispute stemmed from his employer, AD's, refusal to give him the money intended for his transportation to the Grand Magal of Touba, commonly known as "passou Magal," reports L'Observateur.
Disappointed by this decision, which his employer attributed to the workshop's financial difficulties, the young man reacted by posting nine videos on TikTok. In them, he displayed photos of his boss and the boss's mother, accompanied by insults. The videos quickly went viral, alerting AD, who decided to file a complaint, the newspaper reports.
According to the same source, FD's relatives then tried to reach an amicable settlement, but were unable to convince the master tailor to withdraw his complaint. Placed in pretrial detention after his arrest, the apprentice admitted to the acts and apologized to his employer and the latter's mother.
In court, the defendant also promised not to repeat the offense. The court nevertheless found him guilty. The rights of the plaintiff, who was absent from the hearing, were reserved, concludes the newspaper of the Future Media Group.
