Pêche industrielle et artisanale : Ce que l'État s'apprête à changer pour protéger nos ressources maritimes
During Wednesday's Council of Ministers meeting, the Head of State recalled the vital importance of the fisheries sector for the national economy and social stability, calling for strengthened state action to ensure its sustainability and performance.
In this context, he asked the Prime Minister and the Minister of Fisheries and Maritime Economy to strengthen dialogue with all stakeholders, with a view to revitalizing artisanal fishing, a key pillar of the coastal economy and employment. The President also stressed the need for better regulation of industrial fishing activities, which are often subject to intense pressure, in order to ensure a more balanced and sustainable exploitation of fishery resources.
He further called for strengthening the modernization of marine resource exploitation systems, improving transparency in sector management, and continuing the development of aquaculture as a strategic and complementary alternative to traditional fishing.
Finally, the Head of State instructed the Minister of Fisheries and Maritime Economy to prepare, under the supervision of the Prime Minister, for national consultations on the blue economy. This initiative should help define a shared and sustainable vision for the sector, in a context of strong economic and social expectations.
