Petit Mbao : La chaussée impraticable force la ligne 44 à changer d'itinéraire en urgence
Public transport users in Dakar will have to adapt their travel habits. Due to the advanced deterioration of the road surface in the Petit Mbao area, between the Metal Factory and the First Bridge, the Center for Support to Professionalization in Transport Trades (CAPTRANS / AP TRANS) has implemented a temporary and mandatory detour for all buses on line 44.
According to the service note issued on September 7, 2026, by the operations management, access to the usual section of road is now strictly prohibited for drivers. This urgent measure aims to "guarantee the continuity of service and the safety of crews and rolling stock" due to road conditions deemed impassable.
The detour applies in both directions (outbound and return). The bypass route uses the secondary network according to the following route: Second Bridge, transit via Tally Carreaux, exit under the Keur Massar Bridge, then resumption of the usual route of line 44.
Management insists on strict adherence to these directives. Any deliberate deviation from the new route will be considered a breach of operating rules and will subject offending drivers to disciplinary action.
This provision remains in effect until further notice or until traffic is restored on the usual section of Petit Mbao.
