Plage de Yoff BCEAO : Piégé, un homme battu par six individus encagoulés pour avoir publié une vidéo de Capitaine Sy
During the 2026 Gamou celebration, Captain Sy, son of Serigne Moustapha Sy, declared that he could "set the country ablaze." An excerpt from this statement sparked widespread mockery on social media. Among those who shared the clip was D. Mbengue, who posted it on his WhatsApp status. This gesture would prove costly: threats, insults, and then a violent attack on Yoff BCEAO beach, perpetrated by six hooded men, according to information gathered by Seneweb.
Originally, a post on WhatsApp
According to the plaintiff's account, it all began on Monday, August 31, 2026, when he posted a video of Capitaine, son of Serigne Moustapha Sy, as his WhatsApp status. His neighbor, R. Seck, viewed the post. According to Mbengue, she then began insulting him and his mother. Worse, she gave his phone number to others, who in turn began threatening him.
On September 2nd, D. Mbengue claims he wanted to file a complaint. But his father dissuaded him, as the family shared the same neighborhood as R. Seck, whose parents allegedly intervened to ask for leniency from their relatives.
September 4th: The trap meeting
On Friday, September 4, 2026, at approximately 9:45 p.m., D. Mbengue, who works in a pastry shop, received a call from a woman introducing herself as A. Diène. She informed him that some clients wished to place an order for cakes and arranged a meeting at Yoff BCEAO beach.
Unsuspecting, D. Mbengue went there. Upon his arrival, six hooded men appeared and beat him with telescopic batons. Severely injured in the head, he managed to escape. A passerby, alerted by his cries, came to his aid and took him to Philippe Maguilène Senghor Hospital, before he was transferred to Idrissa Pouye General Hospital in Grand-Yoff, and then to Fann Hospital where he underwent a CT scan.
Following this, the victim filed a complaint with the local police station in La Foire. During her interview, R. Seck reportedly admitted to insulting her neighbor via voice messages and sharing his phone number in a WhatsApp group for members of the Mouride brotherhood. She expressed regret for her actions and asked for leniency.
For her part, A. Diène admits to having contacted D. Mbengue and arranging to meet him at Yoff BCEAO beach, but only, she says, to order cakes. She denies having set a trap for him. However, according to testimonies gathered by investigators, she was present at the scene, alongside the six hooded men, at the time of the incident.
At the end of the investigation, the two women were brought before the Dakar prosecutor's office on Monday for intentional assault and battery resulting in a total incapacity for work (ITT) of 15 days, public insults and endangering the life of another on the person of D. Mbengue, following the publication on WhatsApp of a video of Capitaine, son of Serigne Moustapha Sy, religious guide of the Dahiratoul Moustarchidina Wal Moustarchidaty (DMWM).
The six men suspected of having participated in the attack are actively being sought by the national gendarmerie.
