A 19-year-old worker, A. Mboup, was arrested for the rape and subsequent pregnancy of a 15-year-old girl. He might have escaped justice if the father of his alleged victim, NC B, had not intervened in the case, which, until its reopening, had been shrouded in secrecy.
Libération, which broke the story, reports: "The investigation revealed that A. Mboup and NC B had a romantic relationship that resulted in a pregnancy in March 2026. The families tried to resolve the problem internally, refraining from informing NC B's father, who lived in Italy."
Unfortunately for those who had orchestrated the secret agreement, the father of the fifth-grade student, back in Ross Béthio for the holidays, noticed that his child's appearance had changed drastically. He learned that NC B was pregnant. Without delay, Libération reports, "he immediately filed a complaint with the police" against the 19-year-old factory worker. This called into question the agreement between the two families and reopened a case that could prove costly for the accused.
