A land transaction in Malika Plage has uncovered a vast alleged network of traffickers of administrative documents. According to Les Échos, a buyer, who wanted to regularize the acquisition of his plot, was asked for 2 million CFA francs by a building engineer to obtain an official document.
But when he went to collect his receipt, he was directed to a butcher, who had set up shop within the tax office, and given him a receipt. It was upon examining the document that the buyer discovered several inconsistencies, including an incorrect batch number. He then contacted the head of the tax office, who filed a complaint.
The investigation launched by the Keur Massar Research Brigade led to the arrest of the main suspect in Rufisque, after an attempted escape by car. A search of his home uncovered several forged documents, "7 different administrative stamps" – including those of the General Directorate of Taxes and Domains (DGID), the prefect, the sub-prefect, as well as the mayors of Sangalkam and Pikine – and "four passports."
Brought before the prosecutor's office in Pikine-Guédiawaye, the main suspect and his alleged accomplice, the butcher, are being prosecuted for criminal association and land fraud.
The investigation continues to identify any other possible accomplices. An audio recording in which one of the accused mentioned his "moles within the tax services" could allow investigators to follow other leads, according to Les Échos.

Il est allé se planquer hors de Dakar. Comble de la tromperie il dirigeait le mouvement qui manifestait pour leurs droits tout en sachant qu'il a vendu des terrains qui ne lui appartenaient pas.
