Saint-Louis: 19 kg of drugs found in a taxi, Pikine police crack down hard

Saint-Louis : 19 kg de drogue dans un taxi, la police de Pikine frappe fort

Two residents of Pikine in Saint-Louis, arrested on the night of October 4, 2026, were brought before the prosecutor's office on charges of criminal conspiracy, offering and supplying marijuana. The prosecutor requested the opening of a judicial investigation.

The investigative unit of the Pikine district police station in Saint-Louis received information from an anonymous source indicating heavy trafficking of Indian hemp at the small ruminant livestock market, known as "Daral." Acting on this information, they went to the site to conduct an investigation.

After several hours of surveillance and tailing, and based on information received, police officers spotted a yellow and black taxi emerging from the shadows at around 2:00 a.m. on October 4, 2026, driving slowly. The vehicle was cornered in an alley and intercepted. The two men inside were arrested.

A thorough search of the vehicle revealed nineteen blocks of cannabis, each weighing one kilogram, for a total of 19 kilograms. The two occupants were taken to the police station for questioning.

The first, O. NDIAYE, is 48 years old. He declares himself to be a trader and is domiciled in Pikine, Saint-Louis.

The second, Mr. NDIAYE, is 43 years old. He is a taxi driver and also lives in Pikine.

When questioned briefly at the police station, O. NDIAYE admitted to owning the drugs. He stated that he had bought them in Mpal from a certain CS for the sum of five hundred thousand CFA francs.

After being informed of their rights, the two suspects were placed in police custody in the station's holding cell. The 19 kilograms of cannabis were confiscated for the purposes of the investigation, according to Seneweb sources.

Following the investigation, the two men were brought before the Saint-Louis High Court this morning. The prosecutor requested a formal judicial inquiry. The suspects were therefore remanded in custody. They are now awaiting their appearance before the investigating judge, who will decide tomorrow whether to indict them.
