Saint-Louis : La brigade de recherches démantèle un réseau d'importation d'ecstasy depuis la Gambie
The research brigade of the Saint-Louis gendarmerie company has just dealt another blow to drug trafficking. They dismantled a network specializing in the importation of ecstasy (MDMA) from The Gambia. Three individuals were brought before a judge and remanded in custody. This operation is part of the national policy to combat crime, for which the gendarmerie has intensified its efforts throughout the country.
It all started with a tip-off about drug trafficking carried out by "Jakartamen" in various neighborhoods of Saint-Louis, which the BR (Brigade de Recherches - Research Brigade) officers raided. This fieldwork allowed them to identify the leaders of the trafficking ring.
Investigators then conducted targeted surveillance and tracking operations. This led them to intercept information about a drug delivery scheduled for that night. The gendarmes intervened at the location and arrested two traffickers, Mr. Sylla and Mr. Seck, in the act.
The investigation led to the arrest the following day of their main supplier, Mr. Thiak Thiak. According to Seneweb sources, he was working with other traffickers who are currently wanted. The group imported drugs from The Gambia for distribution to dealers within the country.
The police seized the drugs, the means of transport used for delivery, and the proceeds from the sales. All of this was handed over to the public prosecutor at the Saint-Louis court. The three suspects were brought before the prosecutor's office and then remanded in custody on charges of criminal conspiracy and international drug trafficking.
