A cannabis shipment was intercepted by police in Saint-Louis. The central police station's urban security unit arrested an individual after a chase through the narrow streets of the Medina Cheikh neighborhood, also known as "Pikine 700". A total of 3.185 kg of cannabis was seized.
According to information released by the national police, the operation followed a tip-off about a drug delivery in this area of the old town. Police then set up a surveillance and tracking operation to intercept the suspect.
Around 2:30 p.m., an individual riding a motorcycle arrived at the scene with a bag intended for a customer. Surprised by the police intervention, he attempted to flee, abandoning his motorcycle and the suspicious bag. A chase ensued through the neighborhood's narrow streets. The suspect was eventually apprehended by the police.
A search of the bag revealed four blocks of cannabis. Weighing the drugs showed a total weight of 3.185 kg, divided into four blocks of 960 g, 735 g, 650 g, and 840 g. The motorcycle used for transport, the suspect's mobile phone, and the drugs were seized and placed under seal for the purposes of the investigation. Following the investigation, the suspect was brought before the public prosecutor.
