Saly : l’informateur devient accusé du meurtre de sa voisine
In trying to steer suspicions, he fell into his own trap. In custody since 2021 for the murder of Silvia M., the wife of his neighbor who died following a violent attack, A. Sy, a gardener living in Saly, found himself a suspect in turn after initially pointing out two alleged culprits and giving investigators "disturbing details about the attack" that only the detectives and doctors had.
The events date back to April 5, 2021, as detailed by L'Observateur, when Silvia M. was brutally attacked in Saly Niakh Niakhal. Before dying at Mouhamadoul Mansour Barro Hospital, she told her husband, T. Koné, that she had been attacked by "three men, one of whom was wearing red pants." Determined to find the perpetrators, the widower scoured the surrounding area, at which point A. Sy became an informant. The gardener, according to the same source, then pointed out two notorious criminals, M. Thiam and C. Fall, claiming to have caught them in a bar dividing up the loot.
However, when summoned by the police, A. Sy incriminated himself by divulging such precise details of the investigation that they immediately aroused investigators' suspicions about his own involvement. Tried five years later before the Criminal Court, the accused denied any participation in the crime, maintaining that he had only "come to the aid of T. Koné, who is a neighbor." This defense was rejected by the prosecutor, who was convinced that he was the third member of the gang and requested a life sentence. The verdict is scheduled for November 20th.
