Saly : Saisie spectaculaire de 39 kg de chanvre indien sur la plage par la police
The research brigade of the urban police station of Saly, under the leadership of Commissioner Oumar Mbaye, carried out a successful operation on the night of October 17-18, 2026. This intervention led to the seizure of a large shipment of narcotics, according to Seneweb sources.
It was approximately 03:05 when members of the night patrol, deployed as part of the security of people and property and the fight against drug trafficking, targeted the beach of Saly Coulang.
On the scene, law enforcement officers noticed two individuals transporting goods using a rickshaw. As the police approached, the suspects abruptly abandoned their cart and jumped into a dugout canoe lying in wait offshore, managing to escape by sea.
A thorough search of the material left at the scene revealed the presence of two bags containing thirty-nine blocks of Indian hemp, totaling a weight of 39 kilograms.
A jerrycan of fuel, presumably intended to power the fugitives' boat, was also discovered.
The drugs and fuel were immediately sealed, and the rickshaw was taken to the police station for questioning. Upon being informed of the seizure, the public prosecutor at the Mbour High Court, Augustin Yakhar Faye, ordered a full investigation to identify and apprehend the fugitives.
