Scandale des 37 milliards F CFA : Le collectif Sunu 37 milliards annonce une marche nationale après les JOJ
The Sunu 37 Billion collective is raising its voice regarding the rural electrification market. In a press release, it calls for a national mobilization in Dakar after the 2026 Youth Olympic Games and puts forward three reasons to justify this action. At the heart of its demands are the 37 billion CFA francs, the statements attributed to the Spanish businessman José, and a new allocation of 1.5 billion CFA francs earmarked for the project.
The rural electrification market issue continues to be controversial. The Sunu 37 Billion collective now intends to take the next step with a call for a national march in Dakar, following the Youth Olympic Games (YOG).
In a statement, the group believes that "the time has come" for citizen mobilization to obtain answers on the use of the 37 billion CFA francs and on the future of the project.
The first grievance raised by the group concerns the 37 billion CFA francs allocated to the rural electrification project. Sunu 37 Billion claims that the Spaniard José received this sum even though the project was never completed. The group is therefore demanding explanations regarding the use of these public funds and the concrete results of the project for the affected communities.
In his statement, he also denounces what he considers to be more favorable treatment reserved for foreign investors, while Senegalese entrepreneurs "invest and create jobs".
The second point of contention concerns statements attributed to José. According to the group, he publicly indicated that he would no longer answer to the Senegalese justice system. Sunu 37 milliards considers this troubling. The group is calling on the Senegalese authorities to take action and believes that no one involved in a project financed by public funds should be able to evade the demands of the law.
The group also mentions public anticipation surrounding a possible international arrest warrant targeting the individual in question.
The third reason put forward is the inclusion, according to the group, of a 1.5 billion CFA franc allocation for the project in the amended budget law. For Sunu 37 milliards, this new allocation raises a question: why plan for new funding when the questions surrounding the initial 37 billion CFA francs remain unanswered?
The group insists in particular that this new budget allocation would have occurred under the new government.
Faced with these questions, the Sunu 37 Billion collective calls on the populations of the villages concerned, citizen movements, political parties, rural actors and civil society to mobilize and join Dakar for a national march.
The group claims to want to obtain "answers" about the 37 billion CFA francs and about the future of the rural electrification market.
He also believes that this fight should not rest solely on the shoulders of MP Thierno Alassane Sall, who was recently attacked in Sagata. Sunu 37 milliards condemns this violence and sees it as an attempt to silence an outspoken voice on this issue.
Through this announced mobilization, the collective intends to put pressure on the issue of rural electrification to remain at the heart of the public debate.
"Rural populations have the right to electricity. Citizens have the right to transparency. Senegal has the right to answers about its 37 billion," concludes the Sunu 37 Billion collective.
