Sécurité en mer : 24 pirogues et 5 vedettes réceptionnées à Ouakam
Yesterday, at the Ouakam fishing quay, the Minister of Fisheries and Maritime Economy, Amy Mara, officially received 24 fiberglass pirogues and five service boats intended for the technical services of her department.

Fully funded under the Senegal Natural Resources Management Project (SENRM), these vessels are intended to contribute to strengthening operational capacity in the fisheries sector. The amount announced in the press release is 600 million CFA francs.

This acquisition is part of the implementation of project activities related to the sustainable management of fisheries resources and grassroots co-management initiatives, particularly at the level of fisheries developments across the country.

During the ceremony, Amy Mara welcomed the donation, believing that it would "strengthen the operational capacities of fishermen in the region and consolidate the action of the Directorate of Fisheries Protection and Surveillance (DPSP)," particularly in terms of maritime safety.

The minister also praised the commitment of the SENRM project and its technical and financial partners, whose support aims to improve the working conditions of artisanal fishing actors and strengthen the protection of fishery resources.

The ceremony took place in the presence of dignitaries and officials from Ouakam, local authorities, women processors, and representatives of the SEMI company responsible for manufacturing the boats.
