Dimath Stadium: The mayor of Fanaye promises floodlights and stands by 2027

Stade de Dimath : le maire de Fanaye promet des projecteurs et des tribunes pour 2027

The final of the Touldè Zone tournament in Dimath, played this Friday, October 30, 2026, between ASC Étoile de Thiangaye and ASC Tim-Timol, was marked by important announcements regarding the future of the Dimath stadium. On this occasion, the mayor of Fanaye, Aliou Gaye, made commitments to improve the local sports infrastructure.

Taking advantage of this great celebration of popular football, the mayor of Fanaye announced the construction of stands and the installation of floodlights at the Dimath stadium by 2027. A promise particularly awaited by sports stakeholders and the population, in a context where the stadium has practically no infrastructure worthy of the name.

These announcements raise hopes for the youth of Dimath and surrounding areas.

Beyond infrastructure, Aliou Gaye also urged ODCAV to redouble its efforts to forge partnerships that could support the creation of a football academy. This project could contribute to the training and development of young talent in the area, while also offering new opportunities to local youth.

The day was also marked by the generosity of the mayor of Ndioum, Dr. Cheikh Omar Hanne, the sponsor of this final. He rewarded the two finalist teams with 500,000 FCFA for ASC Étoile de Thiangaye, the winners, and 150,000 FCFA for ASC Tim-Timol. Several other teams also received donations of jerseys.

While this final saw ASC Étoile de Thiangaye crowned on the field, it also brought to the forefront an essential question: the modernization of the Dimath stadium.

Now, all eyes are on 2027, the year announced by the mayor of Fanaye for the fulfillment of his commitments.
