Taïnabé (Mbacké): A mentally ill man kills a 4-year-old girl with a machete and injures three other children

A tragedy occurred on September 30, 2026, in the village of Taïnabé , in the commune of Taïba Thiéckène (Mbacké department). The account of the events

According to 12-year-old K. Ba, she was in the kitchen preparing dinner at the time. The other girls were playing under a nearby tree. At the same time, A. Ka , about 5 years old, was returning from the fields, carrying a machete.

It was then that O. Ka, a man in his thirties, mentally ill and homeless, appeared out of nowhere. He demanded that the child hand over the machete. Terrified, A. Ka fled, abandoning the weapon . O. Ka then seized the machete and went to the little girls sitting under the tree. He struck each of the four girls several times on the head. K. Ba began screaming for help at the top of her lungs. After the attack, the alleged perpetrator disappeared.

The attack left one person dead and three seriously injured. The deceased victim is D., known as "A. Ba," approximately 4 years old. The three injured are D., known as "D. Dème" (2 years old), A. Sow (3 years old), and D. Ba, also 3 years old.

Alerted, officers from the Kaël brigade carried out the standard procedures. They also secured the suspect, who posed a potential danger to himself and others, to prevent any further acts of violence. The victims had previously been taken to the hospital.

The suspect, O. Ka, has been placed in detention at the gendarmerie. He is awaiting the completion of the usual formalities related to his detention.
