Télécoms : Le roaming bientôt effectif entre le Burkina, le Bénin, le Sénégal et la Côte d’Ivoire
Traveling from Senegal to Benin, Ivory Coast, or Burkina Faso without having to buy a new SIM card each time to communicate with loved ones is the goal of the Electronic Communications and Postal Regulatory Authorities (ARCEP) of these four countries. They signed bilateral roaming agreements yesterday, Friday, October 23, in Ouagadougou.
Use your SIM card abroad to make calls, send text messages and access the internet
The ceremony was presided over by the Minister of Digital Transition, Posts and Electronic Communications, Dr. Aminata Zerbo Sabané.
Roaming allows you to use your SIM card abroad to make calls, send SMS messages and access the Internet using the mobile networks of the country you are visiting.
Minister Aminata Zerbo Sabané emphasized that the quality of this service cannot be measured solely by the signing of an agreement. Therefore, the commitments made by each party must be honored.
"To inform users of applicable rates and to ensure compliance with commitments"
She urged regulatory authorities and operators to ensure the effective implementation of agreements, to inform users of applicable tariffs and to ensure compliance with commitments.
The signing of these roaming agreements comes at the close of the work of the 2nd session of the Committee of National Digital Regulators of the Member States of the WAEMU held from 20 to 22 October 2026 in Ouagadougou.
