Tension à l’Assemblée nationale : L’APR dénonce les menaces contre Thierno Alassane Sall et Abdou Mbow
The Alliance for the Republic (APR) denounces the public insults and threats allegedly directed at MPs Abdou Mbow and Thierno Alassane Sall in the National Assembly. According to a statement received by Seneweb, the incidents also implicate their colleague Ousmane Fall, an MP from the Pastef party.
"The honorable members of parliament Abdou Mbow, member of the Alliance for the Republic and Thierno Alassane Sall, leader of the Republic of Values, were subjected to public insults and threats in the National Assembly by their colleague Ousmane Fall of Pastef. An attack committed in the presence of law enforcement officers (gendarmes) responsible for the security of the second institution of the Republic," the statement said.
The APR strongly condemns these incidents and reiterates that political differences must be resolved through debate, dialogue and democratic means, and not through violence or intimidation.
"The APR specifies that a member of parliament represents the entire nation and not just its voters. To attack him, insult him, call him all sorts of names, is to call into question popular sovereignty," the statement warns.
The party also calls on the president of the National Assembly and the national gendarmerie to strengthen measures to guarantee the safety and physical integrity of parliamentarians.
The APR finally indicates that it reserves the right to take legal action so that the facts are established and any potential liabilities are sanctioned in accordance with the law.
