Thiès : En route pour voir son père malade, il tente de voler une moto et...
His stopover in Thiès ultimately cost him a prison sentence. Shoemaker K. Ndiaye, who had left Dakar to travel to Dahra Djoloff to visit his ailing father, appeared before the Thiès court to answer charges of attempted theft.
According to the facts presented at the hearing, K. Ndiaye had made a stopover in Thiès before arriving at the Big Faim restaurant. It was there that he spotted a Jakarta motorcycle parked in front of the establishment.
The suspect then attempted to seize the vehicle. To avoid arousing suspicion, he initially sat on the motorcycle, appearing to be a regular passenger. However, the anti-theft alarm was triggered.
Far from giving up, K. Ndiaye attempted to break the anti-theft device, intending, according to the prosecution, to leave with the motorcycle. His actions, however, did not escape the restaurant's security guard, Antoine, who intercepted him before he could flee. Turned over to the police, K. Ndiaye was subsequently remanded in custody.
In court, the defendant contested the accusations against him. He asserted that he had no intention of stealing the motorcycle and rejected the version of events presented in court.
However, this defense failed to convince security guard Antoine. He maintained his statements, asserting that K. Ndiaye had already managed to break the lock before attempting to leave with the motorcycle.
Considering the facts established, the public prosecutor requested the application of the law.
The court ultimately found K. Ndiaye guilty of attempted robbery and sentenced him to two months in prison.
