Thiès: Fierce resistance, seizure of 4 kg of drugs, three suspects arrested by police after a robbery

Three individuals were arrested on September 7, 2026, at 5:00 PM by officers from the Nguinth police station's investigation unit for conspiracy, complicity in marijuana trafficking, and resisting arrest. They are S. Sow, 39, a self-proclaimed cattle herder residing in Thionakh Peulh; I. Sow, 22, a cattle herder residing in Thiapong; and CT Ba, 54, a motorcycle taxi driver residing in Thionakh Peulh, according to Seneweb sources.

According to the police, the case originated in an investigation conducted around Darou Bayré, near Diassap, following a robbery perpetrated in a multi-service store and a bakery in Thiapong.

It was during these investigations that the investigators' attention was drawn to the suspicious behavior of I. Sow, who was driving a Jakarta motorcycle with a large bag strapped to the passenger seat.

When questioned, he fiercely resisted the police, refusing any checks. Once subdued, a search of his bag revealed four one-kilogram blocks of Indian hemp, five cones of the same substance, and a pair of scissors.

When questioned on site, I. Sow stated that it was a certain O. Ndiaye who had given him the drugs to deliver to S. Sow, in exchange for payment.

Based on this information, the police conducted a second operation and surprised S. Sow in a hideout located a few meters from the scene, where, according to investigators, he was waiting for a drug delivery. He was with CT Ba, who had arrived on a Jakarta motorcycle.

When questioned in turn, the two men gave different accounts. S. Sow denied the allegations, maintaining that he was not the intended recipient of the drugs. CT Ba, for his part, stated that S. Sow had tasked him with transporting him to a housing development, adding that at one point, S. Sow had borrowed his phone to make calls.

Analysis of the suspects' mobile phones provided additional incriminating evidence: nine calls were made from CT Ba's phone to I. Sow's number, establishing a link between the protagonists.

The four blocks and five packets of marijuana, the scissors, and the two Jakarta motorcycles seized were impounded at the Nguinth police station for questioning. The public prosecutor's office was notified, and an investigation was launched to determine the responsibilities of each individual involved in what appears to be a structured drug trafficking network.
