Mr. Ndiaye, a 25-year-old inmate, appeared before the Thiès Magistrates' Court to answer charges of assault and battery against his fellow inmate AS
While already serving a sentence at the Thiès Detention and Correction Center (MAC), the defendant found himself involved in a fight with AS, whom he injured.
According to the evidence presented in court, after an initial altercation, the two inmates were separated by prison officers. Believing that calm had been restored, the officers did not anticipate another confrontation.
But Mr. Ndiaye joined AS in the MAC's cold storage room before attacking him again. He assaulted him and inflicted injuries.
In court, the defendant did not contest the facts. He admitted them before offering his apologies.
The public prosecutor has requested the application of the law.
At the end of the proceedings, the court found Mr. Ndiaye guilty and sentenced him to two months in prison.
