Tivaouane Peulh : Démantèlement d’une bande de voleurs de motos, deux suspects arrétés
The local police brigade in Tivaouane has dismantled a large motorcycle theft ring. Members of this gang, often armed with gas pumps or knives, took advantage of sporting events to rob motorcyclists and other citizens. They are made up of drug addicts and repeat offenders.
It all started with the arrest of a 13-year-old boy named Ousmane Ba for stealing a motorcycle. He, a member of the gang, allegedly stole Boubacar Ba's motorcycle, which was parked in his yard.
Thanks to the GPS installed on his motorcycle, the victim was able to track his vehicle to a house under construction, where the thief was caught in the act of removing the motorcycle's fairing. Arrested and taken to the police station, the suspect confessed to the crime and revealed that he had committed the theft in collusion with his accomplices Mouhamed Dièye, alias "Thicky," and Ibrahima Diallo, alias "Ibou," the son of notorious criminals known in the Tivaouane Peulh area.
The gendarmes quickly transported the suspect to the Darou Salam neighborhood to arrest Mouhamed Dieye, alias "Thicky". Ibrahima Diallo fled the scene.
Under intense questioning, he admitted to the acts before declaring that he had also stolen three other motorcycles.
Mouhamed Dièye and Ousmane Ba were brought before the prosecutor in Rufisque. They are being prosecuted for criminal conspiracy and armed robbery committed at night. The other members of the gang who are still at large (Ibrahima Diallo and Talla) are actively being sought.
