Touba : Le fils du Khalife général des Mourides s'est éteint, Serigne Mountakha dispense les fidèles de déplacement
The Mouride community and the entire Islamic Ummah are in mourning. Serigne Mountakha Bassirou Mbacké, the General Caliph of the Mourides, as well as the family of Serigne Touba Khadimou Rassoul, announced the passing of Cheikh Ibra Fall Lamp Mbacké, son of the General Caliph, which occurred on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.
In an official statement released by the General Secretariat of the brotherhood, the religious leader and the bereaved family declared that they "accept divine decree" while informing the faithful of the holy man's passing. The burial took place in the holy city of Touba on Tuesday night.
Following his passing, ritual arrangements have been made to honor the deceased with a day of remembrance: "A day of prayers and Quranic recitations will be held on Wednesday, September 2nd in Touba," the official statement specifies. The third-day ceremony will take place "on Friday, September 4th in Porokhane," the residence of the deceased's family.
Invoking divine grace so that Allah "welcomes him into His Paradise Firdaws and grants him His Mercy," the General Caliph of the Mourides was keen to express his gratitude to "all Muslims and all citizens in solidarity who share with him this divine decree."
In order to preserve calm and contemplation, Serigne Mountakha Mbacké asked each member of the community to offer prayers from their locality, specifying that he "however, exempts them from any travel to Touba".
