Touba : son patron lui confie sa boulangerie, il finit en prison pour...
In 2022, entrepreneur M. Thiam decided to try his luck in Guinea-Conakry. Before his departure, he entrusted the keys to his bakery in Touba to S. Diop, aged 54. According to L'Observateur, the two men reached a clear agreement: the new manager would pocket 18% of the monthly profits and would deposit the remaining 82% into a bank account.
Some time later, the entrepreneur decided to expand his business. The newspaper reports that he sent 5 million CFA francs from abroad to his manager to acquire two more bakeries. But upon his return to Senegal, Thiam was in for a rude awakening: the premises had never been purchased and the money had vanished. The entrepreneur also discovered cash flow problems related to large flour orders, as well as electricity meter fraud detected by Senelec (the national electricity company).
Driven to the brink, the owner filed a complaint with the prosecutor. The newspaper, part of the Future Media Group, reports that after initially admitting to the facts during the investigation, S. Diop changed his story in court, acknowledging only a debt of 2.6 million CFA francs. The Diourbel court ultimately sentenced him to two years in prison, with six months to be served, for breach of trust, according to the same source. He will also have to pay 15 million CFA francs in damages to his former employer.
