A. Fédior, a 31-year-old man, was arrested at the end of a particularly tense intervention carried out by the special police station of Touba, on Tuesday, June 9 in the Darou Marnane district, reports Libération.

Alerted around 6 p.m., the police discovered a "very agitated" individual barricaded on the roof of his house, shirtless and armed with two knives, the newspaper reports. The suspect had just set fire to his older brother's bedroom before taking refuge on the roof, from where he threw projectiles at the residents and the police officers who had come to arrest him.

During the assault, police officer ML Sarr was seriously injured after being struck in the head by a rock, causing him to fall from a wall. Found unconscious, he was rushed to Ndamatou Hospital and then transferred to Cheikhoul Khadim Hospital in Touba for neurosurgery.

After a tense confrontation, police officers managed to disarm and subdue the assailant. During questioning, the bricklayer explained that he had acted with the intention of attacking his older brother, with whom he had been in conflict since his return from Ivory Coast in 2020.

Described by his relatives as a violent, angry man and regular user of Indian hemp, Fedior was taken into custody for arson, death threats, rebellion, intentional assault and battery on a public official with intent to kill, illegal possession of category 5 weapons, violence and assault, as well as endangering the lives of others, the same source concludes.
