Toubacouta : le PUMA injecte 23 millions FCFA pour l’autonomisation des femmes de Djinack et Betenty
The national coordinator of the Emergency Program for the Modernization of Border Areas and Territories (PUMA), Dr. Ndèye Marième Samb, handed over equipment this Friday to women processors on the islands of Djinack and Betenty, in the commune of Toubacouta, department of Foundiougne.

Valued at 23 million CFA francs, this support aims to strengthen the activities of women from trans-fortified areas who are active in the processing of fish and fruit products, such as monkey bread and ditakh.

According to Dr. Ndèye Marième Samb, this donation follows a needs assessment mission conducted on the islands of Djinack and Betenty. The equipment provided, including pulpers for processing baobab fruit and ditakh (a type of dried fruit), and solar drying tables, should allow beneficiaries to streamline processing, increase their productivity, and boost their income.

In addition to the transformation equipment, two canoes and life jackets, among other things, were also offered to the women to facilitate and secure their movement.

This support is part of a week dedicated to women's empowerment. Through this initiative, PUMA aims to contribute to improving women's working conditions and developing their income-generating activities.
