The Keur Massar territorial gendarmerie brigade arrested three people on the night of November 2-3, 2026, in the Alioune Ndiaye neighborhood, near the Auchan supermarket. The suspects are being prosecuted for criminal conspiracy, offering, and distributing marijuana.
The operation began with intelligence regarding a suspected cannabis trafficking network in the area. According to the investigation, the gendarmes set up a surveillance operation which led to the arrest of A. Thioye, El. MA Sarr, and A. Sane.
The search uncovered a black bag containing 16 pre-packaged bags of Indian hemp, ready for distribution, as well as two additional cones wrapped in brown paper. Two pairs of scissors were also seized.
When questioned about the origin of the prohibited product, El. MA Sarr, presented by investigators as the potential supplier, admitted to being the owner. He stated that he obtained his supply in Mbeubeuss from an individual whose identity he claimed to be unaware of.
Investigators indicate that the three suspects are involved in drug trafficking in Keur Massar. Intelligence gathered by the gendarmerie also suggests that this activity is impacting local youth, some of whom are identified as drug users.
Following the preliminary investigation, the three individuals were charged with conspiracy, offering, and supplying marijuana. They were brought before the prosecutor's office in Pikine-Guédiawaye on November 4, 2026, and remanded in custody. They will be tried before the court for flagrant offenses on charges of offering and supplying drugs.
