A major blow has been dealt to a network illegally obtaining driver's licenses. The Tambacounda Research Section (SR) has brought four individuals before the prosecutor's office on charges of forgery and use of forged documents, following the uncovering of a system that allowed public transport drivers to operate without having passed any of the required exams.

The case began on October 2, 2026. Alerted by a specific tip, the gendarmerie learned of a network supplying counterfeit Guinean driver's licenses to drivers in the region. This scheme aimed to circumvent Senegalese regulations, which are particularly strict for driving vehicles transporting passengers or goods.

Following this alert, the investigations quickly carried out by the investigators led to the arrest of four suspects: A. Diallo and O. Ba (both born in Tambacounda), A. Diallo (born in Labé, Guinea) and A. Touré, a "coxeur" well established in the local transport sector.

During their hearings, the first three accused confessed, identifying A. Touré , their employer, as the intermediary who facilitated the obtaining of the documents.

Faced with these statements, A. Touré eventually admitted his central role in the scheme. To equip two of his relatives and associates, he contacted a correspondent based in Guinea, a man named M. Diallo. The modus operandi was simple: applicants provided a passport photo and 35,000 CFA francs per document, according to Seneweb sources.

In return, Guinean titles were issued remotely, exempting beneficiaries from the required aptitude tests.

Following the preliminary investigation and the questioning of several witnesses, the four individuals were brought before the public prosecutor at the Tambacounda High Court for further legal proceedings. The defendants are being held in prison awaiting their trial.
