Tragédie à Ngor Virage : Un étudiant fait une chute mortelle depuis le 5ᵉ étage d’un immeuble
A climate of shock and incomprehension reigns in Ngor Virage following the tragic death of young S. MBODJ, which occurred earlier this week. The tragedy took place in a furnished apartment on the 5th floor of the AQUANIC building, plunging his family and the local community into deep sorrow.
It all started on Sunday, October 18, 2026. On that day, S. MBODJ, a 26-year-old student, rented a furnished apartment consisting of three bedrooms with bathrooms, a kitchen, a living room and several balconies for the sum of 200,000 CFA francs for a period of two days according to Seneweb sources.
To enjoy the place, the young man invited his brother, S. MBODJ, a 27-year-old mechanic, and his childhood friend, M. DIOP, a 25-year-old student, all residents of Pikine. A 20-year-old student, A. SANDIGUE, from Almadies, was also staying at the apartment.
The day of Monday, October 19, 2026, passed peacefully until late afternoon. While his brother S. MBODJ slept soundly in one of the rooms and A. SANDIGUE rested in another room, the student began a long conversation with his childhood friend M. DIOP in the living room.
The decisive minutes of an unexplained act
Around 6 p.m., the discussion took an unexpected and disconcerting turn. S. MBODJ suddenly removed his watch, rings, and bracelet, then handed them to his friend, M. DIOP. According to the detailed statement given by the latter to investigators:
"He gave me his jewelry and asked me to give it to his older brother when he woke up."
Immediately after uttering these words, the student stood up, walked purposefully to the kitchen, and locked the door from the inside. Before anyone could intervene, the young man opened the window and leaped violently from the 5th floor.
An alert was immediately raised after cries of distress were heard in the apartment, startling A. SANDIGUE and the victim's brother, S. MBODJ. The latter, in shock, was informed of the tragedy by M. DIOP and told the police that his brother had been perfectly healthy, showing no prior signs or suicidal tendencies.
Alerted by telephone, the local Ngor police brigade rushed to the scene. By the time the gendarmes arrived, S. MBODJ had already been taken into the care of the firefighters and placed in an ambulance. The student was lying motionless, while reddish fluids were flowing from his mouth and nostrils, leaving visible traces on the asphalt at the exact point of impact.
The examination of the premises confirmed that the kitchen door from which the young man jumped was indeed locked from the inside. Furthermore, a thorough search conducted by investigators throughout the three bedrooms and the living room revealed no illicit or suspicious substances.
The body was taken to the morgue at Idrissa POUYE Hospital for autopsy.

Le fait qu'il ait loué cet appartement avec ses moyens d'étudiant (à vérifier) est un signe qui peut alerter si ce n'était pas habituel, mais personne ne pouvait deviner le suicide.
