Trois jeunes périssent dans un accident à Thiès : L'émotion et l'appel à la vigilance du maire Alioune Sarr
“No sporting victory is worth a human life. No trophy can replace a child in the hearts of their parents. This tragedy should collectively remind us of the importance of the safety of our young people, especially when traveling for sporting events. We must all be even more vigilant and responsible to prevent such tragedies from happening again.” This poignant statement was made by the mayor of Notto Diobasse, Alioune Sarr.
This statement follows the burial, on Sunday, October 25, 2026, of three young lives tragically cut short: Issa Ciss, 16 years old and son of the president of Zone 11; Rokhaya Faye, 18 years old; and Bineta Ciss. All three succumbed to a horrific traffic accident that occurred on the evening of Saturday, October 24, 2026, near the village of Kissane, in the Thiès department. The tragedy occurred when a bus carrying supporters of ASC Ngolfaning, returning from a football final, overturned.
In his capacity as mayor and father, Alioune Sarr expressed his deepest condolences to the parents, families, loved ones, sports and cultural associations (ASC), and all the youth of Diobasse. "It is with profoundly broken hearts that we have just accompanied three of our young people to their final resting place, tragically lost in a traffic accident after the Zone 11 football final. We were gathered to celebrate youth, sport, and brotherhood. Today, we are gathered in sorrow and tears. Three young lives brutally cut short. Three families plunged into mourning. The entire community of Notto Diobasse is in mourning today," he declared.
The former minister reiterated his full solidarity and unwavering support to the bereaved families to assist them in this particularly painful ordeal.

En l’occurrence, il s’agit d’une arrestation arbitraire, menée par des individus agissant de concert. C’est un acte d’intimidation, une tactique qu’ils emploient couramment, et un abus de pouvoir orchestré de longue date par des responsables qui ont dominé le paysage politique et administratif local, bien que leur influence décline désormais face à l’émergence d’une nouvelle génération. L’indignation suscitée au sein de l’opinion publique par les circonstances de cette arrestation, largement relayées sur les réseaux sociaux, a mis cette réalité en pleine lumière. Les protagonistes s’activent aujourd’hui pour en limiter les retombées ; en somme, ils cherchent avant tout à sauver leur propre peau. Si un tel incident s’était produit par le passé, ils auraient sans doute persisté dans leur démarche, une méthode qu’ils ont longtemps utilisée pour maintenir leur emprise sur le pouvoir dans ces localités.
