Un, deux puis trois versements : les djinns étaient trop gourmands, un homme remet 32 millions F CFA contre une valise magique qu’il...
An unidentified individual was swindled by a man posing as a marabout (a traditional healer/spiritual guide). The loss amounted to 32,237,114 CFA francs. The scam involved promising a suitcase full of banknotes after the victim paid money for sacrifices accompanied by incantations.
"The victim, blinded by the lure of easy money, pays an initial sum, then a second, then a third," reports L'Observateur, which broke the story. "As the months go by," the daily newspaper continues, "the demands become increasingly urgent. Each payment is justified by the need to appease the djinns, to convince them to cooperate. The victim, caught in the trap, continues to feed the abyss."
The case dates back to 2023. The newspaper reports that following his arrest, after a complaint from his alleged victim, the marabout admitted to receiving funds, but disputed the amount claimed by the complainant. L'Observateur adds: "He explains, without batting an eye, that the money was used to buy animals for sacrifices."
And that the famous suitcase, the one that was supposed to be inexhaustible [with banknotes], he fully intended to hand over to his victim. Except that it was never filled or delivered.

En tout cas, si j'étais marabout et que j'arrive à faire travailler les djinns pour qu'ils me donnent de l'argent, je "démissionnerais" de suite de mes fonctions publiques de marabout. Non? Bala nga lax jaay...
