Un grand trafiquant de drogue arrêté à Médina Fall (Thiès-Nord), six jeunes en garde à vue
The drug trafficking network has just suffered another major blow. During a police operation carried out on the night of July 24-25, the defense and security forces succeeded in dismantling a large drug trafficking network in the Medina Fall district, in the Thiès-Nord municipality.
In total, seven people were arrested. Among them was a notorious drug trafficker who has always been considered one of the most influential in the region. Our sources indicate that the operation resulted in the seizure of 48 crack cocaine pellets carefully concealed in bags, as well as packaging materials such as aluminum foil and stretch film.
The drug trafficking network extended to several neighborhoods in Thiès, including Médina Fall, Cité Ouvrière, and Keur Issa. It was headed by a trafficker considered the most notorious in the area. The long and meticulous investigation began with the exploitation of precise intelligence gathered by the Urban Security Unit. Following surveillance, law enforcement made several arrests, culminating in a search that uncovered the network's hideout in Médina Fall.
Investigators traced the network step by step, trapping suspects at each delivery. Those implicated face charges of "criminal conspiracy, possession and international drug trafficking," as well as "money laundering." This operation, a first in its kind, demonstrates the authorities' determination to put an end to the expansion of these criminal networks that are plaguing the region.
Commissioner Safiètou Mbaye's team continues their discreet work to neutralize the criminal gangs in the city of two stations.
